Can Work-Study income affect my OSAP award?

Yes, it’s possible. Currently OSAP policy states that a student may have an average income of $50 per week during the study period. A higher income could reduce student’s OSAP entitlement or result in an overpayment affecting future assistance. Actual effect depends on factors such as how much OSAP funding student is receiving and whether there are other study period income(s) in addition to Work-Study income. Students concerned about this policy and its effect on their OSAP award should contact Admissions and Awards directly, (416) 978-2190 for further advice.

Trans Film Night: “Some Like It Hot” – Monday August 22, 6:30pm

==>Trans Film Night: “SOME LIKE IT HOT”
==>Free Film! Free Snacks! Free Talk!

The Trans Film Screening Series hosts a FREE screening of:
“SOME LIKE IT HOT”

Everyone welcome. Allies welcome.

► SOME LIKE IT HOT: is the classic cinematic cross-dressing film starring Marilyn Monroe. Two penniless musicians, Joe (Tony Curtis) and Jerry (Jack Lemmon) in Chicago in the prohibition era, accidentally witness a mob killing. The gangsters want to eliminate witnesses so the heroes have to get a disguise, and get out of town. The only way is to take up jobs as musicians in an all-girl band – giving rise to their new identities of “Daphne” and “Josephine”. Hilarious complications ensue . . .

Yes, that’s right, the Trans Film Screening Series is showing “Some Like It Hot”. Let’s revisit this film to see what it has to say about gender. Or, just come have fun. Let’s explore how the film speaks to poverty, kink, notions of play, disguise versus transformation, problems of sexual difference, subversion, parody, censorship, stereotypes, white appropriation of jazz music and the entire history of cross-dressing on screen. Or, just come have fun. Come dressed in your best “Marilyn”. Or, just come have fun. In the heat of August we offer a social, low-pressure and casual evening.
